Sample Pellets - OrigaTip
Sample Pellets - OrigaTip
Description
OrigaTip sample pellets are precision‑machined, disk‑shaped materials designed for use with OrigaLys electrochemical sample holders. They provide a standardized, interchangeable working surface for electrochemical testing, allowing researchers to quickly switch between materials without changing the entire electrode assembly.
What the Sample Pellets Are
The pellets come in a wide range of materials—including boron‑doped diamond (BDD), 316L stainless steel, aluminium, copper, glassy carbon, gold, graphite, iron, nickel, platinum, silver, and tungsten steel—each offering distinct electrochemical properties suited to different applications.
Pellets are available in two main diameters:
- Ø8 mm
- Ø15 mm
How They Relate to the Sample Holders
Each pellet size corresponds directly to a specific OrigaTip sample holder model:
- Ø8 mm pellets fit the Sample Holder Ø8
- Ø15 mm pellets fit the Sample Holder Ø15
The sample holders themselves are available with stainless steel 316L or titanium contacts, ensuring reliable electrical connection during measurements. They include a silicone O‑ring (with PTFE available on request) to seal the pellet securely in place and prevent electrolyte leakage
Functional Relationship
- The sample holder provides the mechanical support, electrical contact, and sealing system.
- The pellet provides the active electrode surface.
- Together, they form a modular working electrode assembly compatible with OrigaLys instruments such as the OrigaTrod, StaTrod, and EDI101.
This modular design allows users to:
- Swap materials quickly for comparative studies
- Replace worn or contaminated surfaces without replacing the entire holder
- Maintain consistent geometry across experiments
Why This System Is Useful
The OrigaTip pellet‑and‑holder system is ideal for:
- Corrosion studies
- Material screening
- Electrochemical sensor development
- Surface treatment evaluation
- Teaching laboratories needing repeatable, interchangeable electrodes
It ensures high reproducibility, clean electrical contact, and flexibility across a wide range of electrochemical applications.
